Wahine In less than 4 years, Wahine (wah-hee-neh) has emerged from total obscurity into a rising star in the disco scene. Winning the Defected Croatia Mix Contest in 2019 and making her international debut at the boutique festival put her on the radar of key tastemakers in the disco and house scene, despite a 10-year hiatus from DJing.

Wahine’s sound can be described as “Disco in Paradise”—sundrenched and full of world music influences, matching her Southern California seaside upbringing. Funky licks are spiced with percussive jams, and infectious melodies with equal parts brains and brawn.

She is a bi-monthly resident on Passion Ibiza Radio, and co-hosts the award-winning Spin City on the World’s #1 House Radio Station, MyHouseRadio.fm. She has also contributed guest mixes to many important shows and radio stations in the genre, including Mi-House, NDC Radio, Disco Deviance, Spa In Disco, and DiscoDaze, with many of these mixes reaching the top of the ‘Hot & New’ Disco Charts on SoundCloud. During the pandemic period, she contributed a guest column for top-ranked house music blog, LeVisiteur.com, and produced an interview show for Only Good Vibes.

She has toured the UK and Europe with dates in London, Glasgow, Scotland, and Amsterdam, as well as supporting headline talent including Crazy P, Dicky Trisco, Moodena, Les Inferno & De Gama, and Lenny Fontana. She performed a B2B set with Derrick McKenzie (drummer for Jamiroquai) at the 2022 iCulture ADE party, sharing the bill with the likes of Ridney and Richard Earnshaw. In her adoptive home of Atlanta, she has graced lineups with the likes of Kai Alcé and DJ Kemit. In her first round of DJing that began in Los Angeles in 2004, she supported house legends Robin S, DJ Sneak, DJ Disciple, and Tommy Bones.

In 2019, she kicked off her own tropical-flavored disco event, Wahine’s Hideaway hosting The Funk District (MX), The Silver Rider (US), and Scottish disco don, Dicky Trisco. She also hosts various events in Atlanta, Georgia including club-oriented Soul Seek, and Joy*Ride with a focus on eclectic sounds spanning the wider world of dance music through jazz, reggae, rare groove, funk, and bossa nova.

This year she began her foray into music production and her early mashups are already receiving support from radio shows from The Black Light Disco (UK) to OpenTempo FM (Ireland), ranking in the top downloads on Hypeddit, and garnering close to 15K plays on SoundCloud.
